Escapism: Morocco

Come away with me. Today we escape to Morocco.
Does the name Casablanca ring a bell? Well, it happens to be this country's largest city.
Located in North Africa, Morocco is a mystical place full of beautiful people, wonder and intrigue. Get lost and soak up the exotic culture as you mingle with snake charmers and fortune-tellers.

I could go on forever posting photos, but I fell in love with way too many. Especially Steve Casimiro's 'Road to Morocco' photo album found here via National Geographic's website.

Do enjoy.

Where do you want to go on your next vacation?

Salt

Spotted this poster last weekend when I went to the movies and it piqued my interest. Checked out the trailer when I got home and was immediately drawn in by the trailer. I will be seeing it in July -- plus I love it when women kick ass in films.

If you haven't already, check out the trailer:

Style Stalking: Tracee Ellis Ross

Tracee Ellis Ross. Daughter of the original and legendary diva Miss Diana Ross is that rare type of woman who can wear virtually ANYTHING! Her body is SICK --  the perfect balance of slender and curvy, so it's no wonder that she looks good all. . .the. . .time!! Even this dress that would otherwise look like a potato sack on most women, looks great on her. It's almost sickening. And her hair?? Let's not even go there. Pure perfection.

She has an impeccable way of mixing breezy with glamourous and I find that every time I am looking to update my wardrobe she's the one I turn to for inspiration. Her style makes me think of a successful and chic woman living in Fort Green, Brooklyn who enjoys gallery openings and cocktails with her friends after work. Independent and fabulous.

Tracee's personality is one that is equally inspiring. In every interview of her that I've either read or watched, she exudes a sort of down-to-earth geeky coolness that is very similar to her former Girlfriends (a TV classic!!) character Joan Clayton. She is definitely a big sister in my head :)

Here are some of my fave looks from the fabulous Tracee Ellis Ross:

What say you on Tracee's style chéres? Yay or nay?

Friday Fab: Kim Kardashian

This is the Fab Friday Look of the Week: Celebrity Throwback Edition!

Ever since I spotted this pic of Kim K. last year at Tracy Reese's Fall '09 show, I have been obsessed with images of her from that event. I think it's the best I've ever seen her. Wearing a strapless ivory dress (by Tracy Reese -- of course!), she rocked the old-Hollywood glamour look quite well. This ensemble is a classic. I don't think it will ever get old, so I thought I would re-create a look for less for my fellow budget-fashionistas / recessionistas:

1. Arden B. Hammered Charm Tiered Ruffle Dress, $88
2. Aldo Litten Pump, $54.98
3. L'Oreal Le Kohl Duo Liner (in charcoal/honey), $10.95
4. Urban Decay Eye Shadow in Uzi, $17
5. NARS Lip Gloss in Bloodworks, $24

Celebrate frugality!

Style Stalking: Pixie Lott

Whoever styles Pixie Lott deserves a standing ovation. Her look exudes cool, effortless downtown-chic and I absolutely ADORE it! Not only is the British pop princess an upcoming style icon (IMO), but her voice is nothing short of amazing. Raspy with a sprinkling of soul. I am definitely a fan.

Here are some more images of some of my fave Pixie looks:

I'll also leave you with one of my faves by her --  'Use Somebody', an acoustic cover she did for Kings of Leon.

What say you mon chères? Yay or nay to Pixie's style?

Delectable Designers: Erin Fetherston

Ahh, this post is LONG overdo. I started drafting it up awhile ago, but never finished. I wanted to make sure that I took the time to give my fashion idol the blog time she so aptly deserves.

I am an Erin Fetherston stalker. I love her designs, her style and her unique look. She is like the goddess of fashion to me and can do no wrong. With the Fall 2010 fashion week being right around the corner, I, along with my fellow fashionistas I'm sure, have been stalking the latest designs from our most esteemed designers. This season it goes without saying that on the couture front, Armani Privé's 2010 collection has really taken the cake.
But, for little ol' me whose wallet's best bet is on the RTW front, can we please take a look at a few favorites from my girl Erin:

The last number is my favorite! Classic and fierce all in the same breath.
This particular collection was inspired by Erin's childhood trip to Nara, Japan. These looks are perfect for after-work socials, cocktail parties and give off capricious New York vibes.

Celebrate fashion!

The Great Escape

This one goes out to my fellow book lovers, chic enthusiasts and homebodies. *snap applause*

Dreams of the husband and I becoming homeowners dance around like sugar plums in my head. I can't wait for that day, but we're being smart. We're saving and making sure that we take our time so that we're able to find the RIGHT house to call a home. I just wish it didn't take so long.

When that day comes, my one requirement is that I have my very own "Girl Room" to escape to on the days I want to curl up with the latest fashion and gossip rags or indulge in the fun and sometimes scandalous TV shows or movies recorded on my DVR. You know the ones that husbands refuse to watch with their wives because they contain too much estrogen.
The Mister has already claimed the basement as his "Man Cave", so I think this is only fair.

My "Girl Room" will be filled with shelves full of books new and old and pretty things that make me smile. I'll host martini & movie nights, book clubs and even karaoke parties for girls ONLY! No boys allowed!

Till that day comes, I look to these inspiring pictures to help the time move just a little bit faster:
