They say when you're going through your most challenging or most difficult times, you get an accurate view of who your true friends are. As I lay here in bed on this snow lined October morning (weird, right?), Mara Hruby's 'Character' seems to fit my mood exactly.

The good thing about disappointments like these is the surprise element. The people who you would never expect to, come around and support you and check in on you. I have come across so many genuine, wholesome, GOOD people and it's truly been a blessing in my life.

So, with this, I realize how I am so fine with endings because they always signify a fabulous, new beginning -- at least for me :)

Escapism: French Riviera

The Côte d'Azur, better known as the French Riviera, is located on the southeast corner of France, along the Mediterranean coastline. Visiting this gem of a location has been on my bucket list (right before 'riding a sleeper train through an exotic location' and directly after 'attending a Vanity Fair Oscar Party')for as long as I can remember.
It benefits from 300 days of sunshine per year, with temps hardly exceeding 86˚ (as if that isn't enough to get you there), 71 miles of beaches and 3,000 restaurants. You want to talk perection? This honey, is it.

It's no secret that I am a huge fan of Kourtney Kardashian's style. Moreso than her sister Kim's, actually. When I spotted her rocking a cool pair of Oliver Peoples 'Alina Cat Eye' sunnies a few months back, I knew I had to get my hands on a pair for the summer.

I've been a little busy, but as soon as I got the chance, I wanted to take the time to come in and post about Japan.
On March 11th, an 8.9 magnitude earthquake sent the country into massive devastation which unleashed in 3-days time, tsunamis and the explosion of a nuclear plant.

Japan is one of the most seismically active countries in the world and this recent earthquake has placed it in the top 5 worldwide.

I'm asking my readers to please pray for Japan and the survivors of this tragedy. God is who we should turn to in times of trouble and despair. Prayer is powerful, lends hope and makes a difference.

We've reached March and I am so excited for the warm weather to arrive! The cold, bitter temps can drop dead for all I care. I am SO over it.
During this month, in between regular postings, I'll be incorporating some profiles of my favorite women in honor of Women's History Month! First up, is Adele. My obsession with her is borderline psychotic. I LOVE her to pieces and you can't tell me that in a past life we weren't best friends. Her music is smooth, rich and relatable. Besides all of her success, she remains a humble, beautiful person that you can't help but to love.
She recently visited Chelsea Lately to discuss her sophomore release, 21. The album is AMAZING and so is she. If you haven't already, pick it up! You won't be sorry.

Milk + Honey

I recently discovered an arousing trailer while browsing the internet on one of the many snow days we've had so far.

Milk + Honey, a web series produced by Brown Paper Dolls and the delectable Idris Elba, is the story of four women in LA and their spiritual, professional and romantic quests to find their dreams.
The trailer definitely caught my attention and left me wanting more -- especially the snippet that featured Lance Gross and Asha Kamali May (starting @ 2:12) romancing *swoon*. The fact that the melody to Michael Jackson's 'I Can't Help It' was playing in the background is just ... everything. I may or may not have replayed that part more than a few times.

I'm dying to see more, especially since GOOD African American shows are experiencing a major drought.
"Milk + Honey was created because we wanted to showcase diverse images of women of color that we don't usually see on the big or small screen. Also, we're creating more opportunities for black actors," says Jeanette McDuffie , a producer who makes up one third of the company, Brown Paper Dolls.

The series is looking to be picked up by a TV network and they still need 1 million viewers of the trailer to help make that happen. Please check it out. I love supporting first rate AA projects and hope to contribute to Milk + Honey's success by spreading the word.

30 Reasons to Be Grateful

I took a little hiatus. Hello everyone! SO much has happened to me in the past 5 months since my last blog post. There have been highs and there have been lows, but I think I'm more resilient now than I ever have been.
Last Friday, I celebrated my 30th birthday. I thought with this milestone the resurgence of my blog would be a good idea. I considered shutting it down and even starting a fresh one. But, decided it was a better idea to just pick up where I left off and see where we go from here --- just like we do with life.
I have lots to share, including pictures from my birthday celebration. That will come in a later post. For now, let's just get reacquainted. I have 30 reasons to be grateful. Those 30 reasons are 30 years of life. What a blessing! So to celebrate that (which is what this blog is all about), let's come back with something fun:

1. Someday I hope to open my own clothing boutique or bookstore. It's always been my dream. I always wonder how well that would work out since clothes and book are two of my favorite things. I fear I wouldn't sell anything due to me putting my own products on reserve.

2. I get sick and nauseous whenever I read in a moving car. But, I do it anyway.

3. I HATE CROWDS, yet, love to party ... where there are usually crowds.

4. I have a wild imagination. I create fantasies in my head.

5. I cry. A lot.

6. I am horrible with directions. Thank God for GPS.

7. I love writing out "To-Do Lists". I'll add completed tasks just so I can put a red 'X' next to it.

8. I am lactose-intolerant, but still eat dairy. I love cheese and ice cream, but unfortunately they don't love me.

9. I love board games. Game nights never get old to me.

10. I used to be more of a people person, until I started working in the city (Manhattan). I'm getting better though.

11. I am obsessed with chubby cheeks. I can't help but to pinch, bite or kiss a pair whenever I see some.

12. When I was younger, I dreamed of owning a porcelain tea set when I got older. I am still in search of the perfect one.

13. I rock myself to sleep.

14. I have an affinity for all things vintage. Clothes, hairstyles, photographs, celebrities ... the list goes on. If it looks old and worn, chances are it’s a cache that I need in my life.

15. I love wearing my husband's t-shirts @ home. It makes me feel safe and protected.

16. My little sister brings the greatest joy to my life. I want her to be bigger and better than me.

17. I am a worrier. I worry about ~~most things~~ EVERYTHING.

18. I still send handwritten letters and cards. I believe it's a lost art.

19. I miss summers in Canada with my cousin. They're one of my fondest memories and she is one of my best friends. We're like sisters.

20. I LOVE birthdays whether it's mine or someone else's. This includes the whole she-bang -- cakes, candles, sprinkles, confetti and balloons.

21. My husband proposed to me when I looked my WORST (seriously). For that (on top of many things) I will love him forever.

22. I've always wanted freckles. There's something magical about them.

23. As much as they can irk me, my family means the world to me. They keep me sane and I'm so grateful that we're a huge lot that's also close-knit.

24. I sing in the shower and sometimes talk in my sleep.

25. I am an avid movie watcher. Especially old ones. Watching them sometimes feels like an escape.

26. I love trying new recipes and cooking. I can spend all day in the kitchen.

27. I'm addicted to shoes. They are my weakness.

28. I recently went natural. I'm almost at month 4th. I always said by 30 I would go back to my natural hair, and I did! One of my proudest moments.

29. I HATE talking or writing about myself. Pretty ironic since I'm listing facts about me.

30. Christmastime used to be my favorite time of the year. But, due to recent events, that's changed. I don't think it will ever be the same for me. I pray everyday for an amazing 2011 and the hope that that will someday change.

I met Aleesia through a mutual friend and we instantly hit it off. She's a hot mama! You know the mom-to-be that most of us women who never carried a child gawk at. Unable to tear our eyes away, and secretly wishing to look like her when it's our turn. From behind, you can't even tell that she's preggo because she's all belly.
When the opportunity came for me to shoot my first maternity session, I was nervous, but excited. I need all the practice I can get, so I immediately said YES!
Aleesia was amazing. Due in just 2-weeks time, with baby #3 (yes, she has 2 kiddies already!) she rolled into the park with props and the best attitude. She was willing to jump through leaps and bounds without complaining once. I think I whined more than she did, which is super embarrassing to say. She is definitely an inspiration.

Picture Perfect: Natacha

I am so happy to be adding a new element to my blog! 'Picture Perfect', will be posts where I showcase my photography skills to you all.
I've always been in love with taking pictures. It's something that has excited me since I was a young girl. I never thought I was a GREAT photographer, but, I just knew I enjoyed it. My husband has been encouraging me to keep at it so I can get better and maybe even start a portfolio. I decided, that's not a bad idea at all. I knew there was a reason I kept him around :).

Today, I shot my friend Natacha at Liberty State Park in Jersey City, NJ. She's gorgeous and super photogenic. So, out of the 300+ pics I took, it wasn't easy choosing my faves of her. It was also lava rocks HOT and she was such a trooper, flouncing around in her pretty dress and wedges while the sun beat down on us.

Hello Chéres!

Today is a cause for celebration. Why? Because, it's my blog's birthday! *throws confetti*
It seems like it was just yesterday when I wrote up my first post. Now, 103 entries later, here I am :)

I first started this blog as a way to keep a positive attitude about all things big and small. Exotic and plain. Creative and exciting.
My thought process was, if I focused all my energies on things that I love, it would make my life so much brighter. Everyone should focus on the things that make them happy and live everyday like it's their birthday. That's the mantra I try to live by ⎯hence, BALM (Birthday á la Mode) was born!

I'll admit that I never thought anyone would be remotely interested in what I had to say, but, I'm happy to see that my readers enjoy what I write and actually interact and send me emails. For that, I would like to say THANK YOU!

I've always wanted a brother. This past weekend, I gained four "little" ones.
My two girlfriends and I road-tripped it down to Virgina Beach, VA for a change of scenery and a little fun in the sun.
My friend's brother lives and goes to college down there, so he and his friends took us in and let us elders (they kept calling us old, lol) hang.
This was my first time in VA, so I didn't know what to expect. I will admit, I was a bit skeptical because I thought it would be, well ⎯ country. But, we had big fun and did so much in the short time we were there.
I definitely plan to go back to stay a little longer next time.

Mood Music: All I Want Is You

It's a quiet Sunday afternoon, and I have a rum cake baking in the oven. In just a few hours, my husband and I will be heading over to my parent's house for dinner with the family.

In the meantime, I'm updating my iPod which I try and do daily. I'm a music lover, so I'm always scouring the internet for new music whether it's mainstream or underground. Right now, I am so feeling Miguel Jontel. A fresh and new R&B crooner who I believe is the future of R&B. I heard a few samples of his work, but All I Want Is You is on heavy rotation for me this summer. It doesn't hurt that he paired up with RocNation's very own J. Cole on this hit. J.Cole is another artist who I know will be going places.

The smoothness on this track is taking me somewhere. Perfect for a laid back, rainy day like this one:

Material World — Are You a Material Girl?

Topping off my ooh-lala list for this week is Material World, a blog by Lourdes Leon aka Lola, aka, Madonna's 13-year old daughter.

Lola is a mini-fashionista blogging her way through the launch of her (and her mother's) new line Material Girl, premiering August 3rd. She writes about music, vintage trends and "teenage stuff".
I think it's absolutely brilliant that she is following in her mother's footsteps and capitalizing on the name that essentially made Madonna famous. Nothing wrong with passing the baton and keeping it all in the family.

I saw some previews of the collection. It has sort of an 80's vibe with a 2010 flow. I think it will be fantastic and can't wait till the arrival.
Despite the target demographic, I may have to purchase a few pieces for myself! ;-)

This past weekend was an eventful one. It went from up, to down to touch and go. That's expected when you have a lot on your plate. Hubby and I hosted our second annual BBQ and despite the craziness, it was a hit. So much has changed since last year's. Marriages, babies, pregnancies and some great new friends! I'm excited to see what next year has in store.
But for now, it's hump day and I'm already looking forward to the forthcoming holiday weekend. Hubby & I will be in Beantown with friends enjoying the sun, the food and the city. Of course, I'll have my camera in tow, ready to share it all.

Currently, I am loving Rita Ora. She's one of Roc Nation's songstress' and was introduced sometime last summer.
I think she's the cutest thing ever. Hailing from across the pond, Rita started off as an actress and is now making a name for herself as she preps her new album by appearing in music videos such as Drake's Over and Jay-Z's Young Forever.

PSA: I've gotten a few emails and DM's via Twitter regarding my blog and what my readers like about it. I love that you all read and enjoy it because I really just started it as a release and diary of sorts. I never thought anyone would be remotely interested.
A lot of what's come up is the personal aspect. It seems as though many of you love the posts about things I do and document (ie: the How You Doin'?! entry). I'm going to try and incorporate that a little more moving forward. I'll also try and remember to do some outfit posts because that was another thing that came up. By the way, the jacket I'm wearing in How You Doin'?! is from a store called Pop Culture, for those who asked :)

With that said, let me tell you about the day I had yesterday. My sister asked me to go with her and her friends to the Sounds Like Paper summer concert hosted by PAPERMAG. Slated to perform were Hanson (yes, that Hanson), Ninjasonik and Drake. In the back of my mind, I knew it was a bad idea but I figured I would roll with the punches. Let's just say the concert never happened. Why you ask? Well, Paper Mag apparently didn't realize the crowd for a FREE concert would be insane and ended up having to cancel the event due to sheer unruliness. Chairs were being thrown, knives drawn. No home training was present on this day.
Drake (who we were really there to see) even tweeted to his fans:

I've been feeling a little under the weather the past couple of days ⎯ yesterday especially. Before I dozed off for a nap, I started running through a list of my favorite things, just because. It was so fitting that while catching up with Lizzie's (from slowjamtherapy) blog today, she had this great fill in the blank/favorites list posted. I thought it would be great to participate and post my own so that my readers can get to know me a little better. Especially since sometimes this blog can be a little impersonal:

1. Favorite hobby?

Most who know me probably thought my answer would be shopping. While shopping is in fact a favorite hobby of mine, dare I say, I love reading more? I read to escape. It has always been my favorite past time and nothing exhilarates me more than turning pages, getting lost and attached to new characters.

2. Favorite TV show?

Ahh, now this is a tough one. It's definitely a toss up between Glee and True Blood. I love both shows for different reasons.

3. Favorite restaurant food?

Surf and turf. Specifically a nice juicy rib eye and lobster tail. Do you see this? Nom, nom, nom. Great, now I want some.

4. Favorite thing to shop for?

Shoes! Shoes! SHOES! I have a sick obsession. Enough said.

5. Favorite animal?

I'm not really an animal person, but if I had to choose, I'd say horse. There is something so majestic, free and intriguing about them.

6. Favorite song?

This is tough, because I am a music lover and have way too many favorite songs. So, I'm going to go by the song that's in the play count lead on my iTunes. That happens to be, I Wanna Be Where You Are by Jackson 5. Runner-up is Sunday Morning by Maroon 5. I think it's pretty funny that both songs are by groups with the # 5 in their name. Clearly, it doesn't take much to amuse me.

Savoir-faire. The ability to do or say the right thing all the time with grace.

8. Recent favorite YouTube video?

Definitely Jessica's "Daily Affirmation". The cutest video ever. I love the innocence and positivity of children. We adults can learn a lot from the mouths of babes.

9. Favorite movie?

Coming to America! I LOVE this movie. Runners -up, Meet the Parents, The Little Mermaid and Annie.

10. Favorite childhood memory?
Spending the summers in Canada with my aunt and cousins. I went every single summer for the entire summer up until my aunt passed. I remember some days being homesick, but when I think back, I am grateful to my parents for showing me how important it is to bond with other family members and experience different places. I plan to do the same for my kids. Plus, I know it will provide hubby and I much needed breaks ;-)

Happy Birthday: Stevie Wonder

My first memory of Stevie Wonder was at the tender age of 5 or 6. I remember listening to his records with my uncle. He has an undying love affair with music. He lived with us at one point, so I used to listen with him as he played his records. I've been a fan ever since and have learned to appreciate his music as I got older.
My family (as I'm sure many families do) sing Happy Birthday for everyone's special day -- and no one ever knows how to end it :)
Stevie can't be touched. His talent for the gift of song is out of this world. Just listen to his lyrics. They always manage to take you somewhere new.

Mood Music: Unthinkable (I'm Ready)

Alicia Keys debuted the new music video for her latest single, Unthinkable (I'm Ready). I was very surprised to find out that the song was written by none other than actor turned rapper Drake.
This is by far my favorite track off her new album, The Element of Freedom, but I think I love the video even more. It's steamy, beautifully presented and intense. We watch as a love story is taken through different time periods and though many elements have changed over the years ⎯ the styles, the hair, even the technology ⎯ one thing has survived and remained unfortunately intact. Racism.
Quite possibly the best video I've seen in awhile.

Rest In Peace: Lena Horne

This year's Mother's Day was bittersweet. It was the celebration of Moms everywhere and the death of a legend who was second to none.
Lene Horne was the personification of style, grace, beauty and poise. She was truly one of my greatest inspirations.
While planning my wedding, I made collages and clipped images of her (as well as Audrey Hepburn) because they were the main two icons I looked up to. I literally walked into Kleinfelds and handed the consultant, who was to help me find my perfect wedding dress, a photo of Lena Horne and simply asked her, "can we work with this?"
There is something to be said about women like Ms. Horne. As an African American woman who had an instant love affair with theater and the arts, I appreciated the gumption she possessed. She blazed a pathway for the future of black performers and their rights to finer movie roles. For that alone, we should all be grateful.

So, I will admit that when I first heard this song, I broke out into some corny dance moves (in private). The beat is kind of hard to ignore and the chorus is catchy. I am not what one would call a Ciara fan (her music doesn't do much for me) but I do have one or two of her songs on my iPod.
There have been moments when music videos have literally changed the way I feel about a tune, like it has in this case. I went from simply liking the song to playing it on repeat.

I literally salivate over a pair of fierce shoes. SALIVATE. This my chéres is no exaggeration.
For as long as I can remember, my heart has gone thumpity-thump over a pair of finely crafted external coverings made for the human foot. Ask my parents. My Dad actually calls me Imelda Marcos.
I first discovered Charlotte Olympia on the forums of The Fashion Spot. Then, one by one, a few of my favorite fashion bloggers began posting her collections. It's like they were all taunting me. From that point on, I was obsessed. I stalked her website and even had daydreams where I'd be walking down the street and a pair of her shoes would fall down from the heavens and into my hands. No such luck yet.
Even the brand name is triumphant. *sigh* If I get my hands on my very own pair, I'm convinced I could rule the world.

The weekend is here! Friday and I have a lifetime love affair, so I'm always excited when he rolls around :)
Tomorrow I'll be treating my husband to a low-key dinner @ Maggiano's and Sunday I'll be attending my aunt's surprise birthday party in Long Island. Today, I will just vegetate in bed and catch up on shows clogging up my DVR and watch some of my favorite Disney movies like Little Mermaid, Alice in Wonderland and Snow White. No matter my age, I know fairy tales will never get old to me, because I love 'em!!
While we're on the subject of fairy tales, I'll leave you with a modernized favorite of mine. Granny O'Grimm's version of Sleeping Beauty is hilarious and witty and also happens to be an Oscar nominated film.

While running on the treadmill this afternoon, Blue Magic by Jay-Z came on and it made me run a little faster, lol. There are some songs that literally make me change the way I walk when they come on on my iPod. Am I the only one this happens to? Anyway, I hear this song more often than not -- 36 times according to my iPod's play count -- but today it just lit a spark. As I mentioned in past posts, I'm remaining patient for some good things that I know are headed my way. But, my hustle and prayers need to continue so that I can ensure that it does. In the meantime it always helps to have some inspirational tunes to help get me there -- and I'm getting it! :)

Every now and then, I have a moment when I come across something that is so timely. This is one of them.

Lately, I've been harboring one simple thought: "can it be that it was all so simple then"? Young girls nowadays have it rough. The world feels colder and so much more brutal than it did back when I was growing up.

Now, don't get me wrong, it was never perfect. It's just that in this day in age where celebrities reign supreme and the tachyon-like speed of technology has everyone in a tizzy, there seems to be more of a focus placed on competing with the next chick or taking for granted true friendships and healthy relationships.

Being the eldest, my younger sister always had an advantage in that I was always able to pass on to her all the lessons learned from some of the bullshit I would go through. Though there is no greater teacher than experience, it always helps to have a heads up. Even now, at 29 years old (wow, 30 is way too close) I find that I am still in the midst of immature and disingenuous personalities. So it is important to understand and realize that some things will never change. You have to just rock with the ebb and flow. Keep your friends close and your enemies on limited profile. The old adage had to be changed to fit today's times :)

Below, I pasted a genius excerpt from Eve Ensler's book. It's a must read for all women out there. But before I end my post, I want to pass on some of my own advice to young girls in particular who may reading:
Love the ones that treat you right and forget about the ones that don't. Surround yourself with HONEST, HONEST (that is not a typo -- I just cannot stress HONEST enough), LOYAL, POSITIVE, ENCOURAGING friends and remember that the greatest relationships are built on the strongest foundations. It may sound cliche, but, the greatest and truest of friends are the ones that will stick by you, no matter what.

Excerpt from I Am an Emotional Creature: The Secret Life of Girls Around the World:

"Dear Emotional Creature:

    I believe in you. I believe in your authenticity, your uniqueness, your intensity, your wildness. I love the way you dye your hair purple, or hike up your short skirt, or blare your music while you lip-synch every single memorized lyric. I love your restlessness and your hunger.     Instead of trying to please, this is a challenge to provoke, to dare, to satisfy your own imagination and appetite. To take responsibility for who you are, to engage. Listen to that voice inside you that might want something different. It's a call to your original self, to move at your own speed, to walk with your own step, to wear your color.
    When I was your age, I didn't know how to live as an emotional creature. I felt like an alien. I still do a lot of the time. I am older now. I finally know the difference between pleasing and loving, obeying and respecting. It has taken me so many years to be OK with being different, with being this alive, this intense. I just don't want you to have to wait that long.

Ahh, it's Friday again. As I mentioned in previous posts, the weather has been gorgeous, but today not so much. We're back down to 40 degree temps and outside is looking a bit like London with foggy skies and drizzles of rain.

I had planned to head into the city and visit some of my favorite stores like TopShop, Fishs Eddy and Jessie James, but I'm going to keep it local instead. I'll head over to some nearby boutiques and home stores in search of vintage silver frames, curtains for our bedroom and pretty dresses from decades past. Later on tonight, the hubby and I are going to Dizzy's Club Coca-Cola for dinner with friends. The rest of the weekend will be spent with my mom, sister and gal pals.

My Top 5 Oscar Fashion Picks

I wasn't really WOW'd by much of the fashions at this years Academy Awards show, but there were some great looks. It wasn't too hard to narrow down my top 5 faves.

①. Rachel McAdams looked like a pretty watercolor portrait in this gorgeous Elie Saab gown. I really love her as an actress and she seems like the sweet girl next door type.

②. The always classy Meryl Streep looked brilliant in this white wrap gown by Chris March -- a Project Runway alum. The dress is simple yet so elegant. She really hit the nail on the head with this pick.

③. Carey Mulligan sparkled in Prada. Her look was fun and age appropriate, unlike Miley Cyrus', whose dress I liked but personally thought that it seemed to age her a bit. I love that Carey looks funky and sophisticated.

④. Queen Latifah looked absolutely PERFECT in Badgley Miscka Couture. The color, the detail, everything worked in her favor. She was absolutely glowing last night!

⑤. And last, but not least Demi Moore in Versace. She radiated beauty in this look. Everything fit together nicely -- the color, the hair, the accessories. She had it going on!

I want to also recognize and send out congratulations to all the big winners, especially Geoffrey Fletcher, Roger Ross Williams, Mo'Nique, Sandra Bullock and Kathryn Bigelow!

Rag Time: Sade Covers Ebony

Today was a gorgeous day in NYC. After enjoying brunch with some girlfriends, we stopped at a nearby newsstand for some candy and spotted a copy of Ebony Magazine. Sade looks absolutely STUNNING on the cover, which hits newsstands everywhere on March 9th.

Style Stalking: Amerie

I remember first spotting Amerie back in 2002. I was a Junior in college away on campus taking up summer classes. Her video for Why Don't We Fall In Love came on and my friends and I were all enamored. The song was hot, her look was fabulous and the video just gave us that "happy day feeling" -- as my sister and I like to call it. We would drive around with the windows down with that tune on repeat, blasting from the speakers. From that moment on I kept her on my radar. Her first album All I Have stayed in constant rotation and as she developed more as an artist I realized that her style was fierce also!

Her look is classic and funky and I have yet to see her take a fashion misstep. But, what really blew me away and heightened my style stalking were these images of her from Elle and Complex magazines:

I am SO recreating the red blazer/shorts look when I drop some more pounds!!

Advertisement is a powerful tool. The new Spring / Summer 2010 campaign for Salvatore Ferragamo has me daydreaming and craving the fabulous life. I want to leave on a jet plane that's headed to some chic far away paradise. I want to be surrounded by delicious shoes and the gorgeous decor of a penthouse apartment that comes with the perfect balcony view.

What is it going to take to convince my husband that I am a European girl living in an American girl's body?? I need a genie and three wishes. STAT!

Tracee Ellis Ross. Daughter of the original and legendary diva Miss Diana Ross is that rare type of woman who can wear virtually ANYTHING! Her body is SICK -- the perfect balance of slender and curvy, so it's no wonder that she looks good all. . .the. . .time!! Even this dress that would otherwise look like a potato sack on most women, looks great on her. It's almost sickening. And her hair?? Let's not even go there. Pure perfection.

She has an impeccable way of mixing breezy with glamourous and I find that every time I am looking to update my wardrobe she's the one I turn to for inspiration. Her style makes me think of a successful and chic woman living in Fort Green, Brooklyn who enjoys gallery openings and cocktails with her friends after work. Independent and fabulous.

Tracee's personality is one that is equally inspiring. In every interview of her that I've either read or watched, she exudes a sort of down-to-earth geeky coolness that is very similar to her former Girlfriends (a TV classic!!) character Joan Clayton. She is definitely a big sister in my head :)

This is the Fab Friday Look of the Week: Celebrity Throwback Edition!

Ever since I spotted this pic of Kim K. last year at Tracy Reese's Fall '09 show, I have been obsessed with images of her from that event. I think it's the best I've ever seen her. Wearing a strapless ivory dress (by Tracy Reese -- of course!), she rocked the old-Hollywood glamour look quite well. This ensemble is a classic. I don't think it will ever get old, so I thought I would re-create a look for less for my fellow budget-fashionistas / recessionistas:

Whoever styles Pixie Lott deserves a standing ovation. Her look exudes cool, effortless downtown-chic and I absolutely ADORE it! Not only is the British pop princess an upcoming style icon (IMO), but her voice is nothing short of amazing. Raspy with a sprinkling of soul. I am definitely a fan.

Ahh, this post is LONG overdo. I started drafting it up awhile ago, but never finished. I wanted to make sure that I took the time to give my fashion idol the blog time she so aptly deserves.

I am an Erin Fetherston stalker. I love her designs, her style and her unique look. She is like the goddess of fashion to me and can do no wrong. With the Fall 2010 fashion week being right around the corner, I, along with my fellow fashionistas I'm sure, have been stalking the latest designs from our most esteemed designers. This season it goes without saying that on the couture front, Armani Privé's 2010 collection has really taken the cake.

But, for little ol' me whose wallet's best bet is on the RTW front, can we please take a look at a few favorites from my girl Erin:

The last number is my favorite! Classic and fierce all in the same breath.

This particular collection was inspired by Erin's childhood trip to Nara, Japan. These looks are perfect for after-work socials, cocktail parties and give off capricious New York vibes.
